Installing A Wireless Doorbell
Probably the best way of knowing if someone is at your front door is to have a doorbell for them to ring. Installing a door bell is so easy that even a non do-it-yourself can do it. One of the easiest ways you can install a new doorbell is to buy a wireless doorbell, these don't require any actual installation you just stick it up with the self adhesive. A doorbell is actually a small transmitter and when the button is pushed a signal is sent to a bell which acts as a receiver. If you decide on installing a wireless doorbell, you can buy more than one chime unit and attach it to the same bell for more interesting sounds. Wireless doorbells can be run on batteries or on household current, and you just plug it into an outlet. If you used a battery operated one you'll have to constantly change the batteries. Anyway if installing a standard doorbell is easy, then installing or replacing a wireless doorbell is a real no-brainer. Most of the time will be spent choosing the style of doorbell. In order to install a wireless doorbell, you have to first remove the old doorbell swath with a flat screwdriver, tape up the wires, stick them in the old hole and put the new doorbell over the hole. And then in the inside of the house, you just have to plug in the chime unit. This whole process, including taking out the old doorbell should not take more than half an hour and you only need the simplest of tools, such as a flat screwdriver and tape. You should always turn off the electrical power to the existing doorbell before you cut the wires. It is always prudent to do this, even though the voltage is probably low. But you may also have higher voltage, and this could be dangerous.
