How To Install Door Knockers

In order to install door knockers you will need a door knocker and hardware, a level, a pencil, a hack saw, an electric drill, drill bits, a screwdriver and a wrench. Next you will need to determine the type of door knockers' installation process usually required by the type of hardware. Some installations required you drill some holes in the door and add the hardware from the inside of the door to hold the door knockers in place, others do not need any holes drilled in the door and can be easily installed by screwing them into the surface of the exterior of the door.

You will also need to decide where you want to position them on the door. They must be placed in such a matter that they are accessible to reasonable heights, so that an average person can reach the door hardware. You should use a level to check the position of the doorknocker so it will not appear curved.

Another important aspect when you are installing door knockers is not to forget to align the templates, if you decide you want to include one. You can use it to locate the placement of the knocker. If you do not want to include a template then you should firmly press the back of the knocker against the door to imprint its position on the surface of the door. This is a procedure usually used in the installation of the door knockers to mark the exact spot where you must drill the holes, which you should mark again with a pencil.

Next you must make sure you drill straight holes in the marked place and place the door knocker into its place on the exterior side of the door. Make sure all hardware is firmly tightened and you finished.
